This one of a kind letter by hero Jackie Robinson - who famously broke the color barrier in major league baseball - is signed boldly on his personal letterhead dated June 16th, 1949. In this letter Robinson is nice enough to tell a fan that if he sends a baseball to him, he will see to it that it get autographed and returned. Jack Roosevelt "Jackie" Robinson was an American professional baseball second baseman who became the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball in the modern era. The Brooklyn Dodgers, by signing Robinson, heralded the end of racial segregation in professional baseball that had relegated black players to the Negro leagues since the 1880's.
